Open access (OA) -  scientific research results are made freely accessible in digital form

Article Processing Charge (APC) - fee for publishing in open access journals, paid by the author

Creative Commons (CC) -license - Extends the terms and conditions of copyright

Digital Object Identifier (DOI) - a permanent identifier of electronic documents

Doria - Åbo Akademi University's institutional repository

Embargo - A publisher's restrictions on how soon an article can be published in an open archive

Gold OA-  an article is published in an OA-journal with a publication fee (APC)

Gratis OA - publishing without charge

Green OA - a version of the article can be parallel published in a freely accessible repository, e.g. in Doria

Hybrid OA - author pays a fee for making article freely accessible in journal which has license fee

Libre open access - in addition to free access user rights, additional rights are given using Creative Commons licenses

Post-print - refereed version of an article, including changes

Pre-print - version of an article that has not yet been refereed

Parallel publishing -  a refereed and published article is made freely available e.g. in a university's institutional repository

Which version can be parallel published?

green - all versions
blue - post-print (ie final draft post-refereeing) or publisher's version/PDF
yellow - pre-print (ie pre-refereeing)
white  - archiving not formally supported
