Open access: Cost transparency - OpenAPC

Transparency for open access cost

Transparent reporting of paid open access (OA) fees (APCs and BPCs) is a way to promote a financially sustainable publisAbout · OpenAPChing culture. OpenAPC is an international open database of OA costs. A compilation of ÅA's APC and BPC fees for the years 2019-2023 can be found in OpenAPC, see below.

A significant portion of the costs in the compilation are APC fees paid for articles in full OA journals through ÅAU's APC pool, which is funded by the Gösta Branders research fund (Åbo Akademi University Foundation). Some APC costs are covered by funds from individual research projects. Note that publication costs included in read and publish agreements (FinELib) are not included in the compilation.
