First, download an app that supports Adobe DRM (such as Adobe Digital Editions) or the e-book service's own app from the app store. Check the options at How do I read e-books
If you need an Adobe ID to activate the app, create one
Activate your ID in the e-book reader/app.
You can now download the book from your chosen e-book service.
Note: If you want to download a book from Ebook Central or eBook Collection (EBSCOhost), you need to create a personal username for the service in question.
To read e-books, you need to log in via Alma-Finna . E-books are available via various services and there are no general reasons why an e-book does not work. If a specific e-book does not open, contact biblioteket@abo.fi and we will investigate the matter.
Even if the e-book is available for purchase for individual use in the bookstore, this does not mean that the book can be purchased for the library as an e-book. If you have a specific book you would like as an e-book, please contact library@abo.fi
The type of user license available for e-books varies between publishers and e-book services. For example, in the case of course books, the number of students can affect the size of the license. The library purchases so-called unlimited access, i.e. unlimited access license if possible and justified. The price of Unlimited access can sometimes be unreasonably expensive and therefore we do not purchase multiple e-book copies.
